I loved this book. The author has a relaxed writing style that is easy to read. There are two stories happening in this book; the story of Jack, “the fox” of 18th century London, and the author’s notes on regarding his employer and the transcription of the fox’s confession.
The imagery is bold and the characters are intriguing. The book strikes me as a metaphor of the transgender experience. More of a fable with emotional tones than a crime drama, this book was a great read for the queer voice. Both stories in this book mirror the policing and harassment of the transgender community is today’s society. Fortunately, happy endings can be found.
