National Book Review Month (NaRMo) is now officially in full swing! Happy February 1st, Reviewers! This literary awareness month was created at SUNY Geneseo last year to dedicate one month of the year to the art of reviewing contemporary literature.
We have a lot planned for NaRMo this year and are really excited to share our plans with you! Our first big announcement is that if you submit a book review during the first week of February, you will be entered into a raffle to win a signed copy of Karen Russle’s novel, Swamplandia! Book Reviewers who submit their work to the NarMo website (here) by February 5th at midnight will be considered! Each of the four weeks of February will have a new and exciting prize for one lucky book reviewer! To get you motivated for this week, check out this review of Swamplandia! in the New York Times.
We here at NaRMo are extremely excited for this month to ensue and hope to get more students, faculty and community members involved than last year! Along with appreciating contemporary literature through book reviews, NaRMo is dedicated to creating a literary community by connecting readers and writers across the country. Let your friends and family know about NaRMo and encourage them to check out reviews on our website as well as write their own.
Be sure to keep checking our blog for the latest NaRMo updates, events, and of course, the prizes for each week! Our social media accounts, specifically our Facebook page and Twitter feed, will feature some of our favorite reviews and announce more opportunities for you to get involved–so go ahead and give us a follow!
